Biography: Chantal Cournoyer
Chantal Cournoyer embodies adventure and living life to the fullest - whether it's organizing an annual BMW GS challenge, preparing for an African desert rally, teaching an on-road course, or promoting other motorcycling events. She became involved in motorcycling professionally 8 years ago when health problems forced her to leave her career as a chef. At that time, she had already been riding a Harley Davidson for 13 years and was fortunate to land a job with Harley-Davidson Montréal/ Moto Internationale BMW Motorrad where she is now the Manager of Marketing, Promotions and Events. Her role at Moto Internationale BMW gave Chantal the opportunity to organize a BMW GS challenge and she quickly moved from organizer to organizer and participant. In October 2008, Chantal Cournoyer and her rally partner Stephanie Chagnon aka Team Tumbleweed completed the Rally Roses des Sables on BMW G450X’s – an extraordinary ride across Morocco. This summer she will also be participating in some amateur endurocross races. She’s also working on the itinerary for a one year solo motorcycle trip she intends to start later this year. Biography: Marc Fontaine
Marc Fontaine has been a passionate rider for 25 years but has gotten really serious about riding and advancing his skills since 2006. That was when he took an off-road course with Sécurité Active, a riding school founded by Moto Internationale. He was so enthused that he followed it with a 3-day course at the BMW Enduro Park in Hechlingen Germany. In 2007 he became an instructor for Sécurité Active. The same year - with the support of Moto Internationale - he organized the first Canadian GS Challenge, an event for BMW’s GS customers. In 2008, he returned to Germany - this time to get his certified Off-road and On-road Instructor Certificates. Since then, he has been delivering skills courses, organized the 2nd and 3rd GS Challenges and is preparing for this year’s event. He has also begun enduro racing through the FMSQ, an enduro Quebec federation. Marc will also participate in the German GS Challenge in June.
