Alcohol use is often the first culprit that comes to mind. Other causes of impairment include drugs – prescription, over-the-counter and illegal, fatigue and environmental conditions. Motorcycle riding exposes us to the elements – and that can mean prolonged exposure to heat, cold and dehydration – all factors that can insidiously impair cognitive and motor skills. Experience the effects of alcohol impairment while sober through the use of MSF’s Riding Straight program. Learn too how to counteract environmental factors that can impair us even without alcohol. From a modest beginning on a Suzuki 55cc in 1985 to her current Triumph Speedmaster, Myra has enjoyed more than 20 years in motorcycling in the Edmonton, Alberta area. She’s also been an ice racer and dirt biker. She supports her habit by working as a data coordinator in the telecommunications industry.Over the 20+ years of being a member in the Edmonton Chapter of Women In The Wind (WITW), Myra has held various executive positions and is currently the WITW Canadian administrator. She joined the Women Riders Council in 2007, a year later became a MCC board member and moved to the Women Riders Council chair position in 2009. Myra counts a trip to the 2006 AMA International Women & Motorcycle Conference in Athens, Georgia amongst her most memorable motorcycle events.
